Best Of - March Week 01
This week I'd like to turn your attention to art spaces. Many of you within the local art community are sure to have heard and seen opening dates for art spaces, especially in SF. Here are some related articles with further details. Also included are some further away, but absolutely notable spaces to check out.
We look forward to every new month for new events, new openings, and more art. We like to see projects develop and expand. So we cannot wait for the opening of Minnesota Street Project (Dogpatch) next week on March 18 with receptions from several galleries. SF Magazine details how the project will work with its three locations and more to come out of the art complex this year.
Susan Stamberg covers LA's Broad Museum on NPR news, focusing on the museum guides, Visitor Services Associates, who are not the typical museum guard, but serve more as a museum and artwork docent. The VSAs are able to talk to visitors about the artworks on view and museum programming.
UC Davis announces the opening of The Jan Shrem and Maria Manetti Shrem Museum of Art for November this year. Know for an architectural presence on campus already the new museum will merge architecture, art, academics, and the university's history within the Bay Area art scene.
Just in this week, word surfaced of two huge galleries openings across the street from the SFMOMA. Gagosian Gallery San Francisco on May 18, and Berggruen Gallery will open in October.
