Hilary Pecis Solo show and Group Show at Guerrero Gallery

Lemons and Cookbooks, Hilary Pecis

In June we saw the opening of Guerrero Gallery's new operating space, with a solo show by Hilary Pecis titled El Verano. The gallery also exhibited an inaugural group show in their project room.
Photos and more below.

This was a special opening for many reasons and such a huge moment for Guerrero Gallery, the involved artists, and community that has surrounded the gallery for many years. The new space between Bayview and the Dogpatch is an impressive space with a lot of room to work with. It was just a good feeling to be there.

I'm a fan of the entrance to the new space.

Hilary Pecis's paintings depict images of personal spaces, in her home, studio, and neighborhood. In her paintings, Pecis notices the small everyday details that tend to be missed, like the way books are stacked, a kitchen counter, what is on the fridge, or the way materials and tools look in the studio.

The exhibition title from Pecis comes from her street name where she lives in LA, El Verano, which translates to 'the summer' in English and fits into the feeling of the current season.

The inaugural group show presents work from local artists including, Brian Willmont, Cody Hudson, Alex Lucas, Nick Makanna, Laura Rokus, Michelle Guintu, and more.
